Theo Philosophy
Teaching children not just how to think — but what to think about.
Overview
Theo Philosophy
Theo Philosophy — or Philosophy for Children (P4C) — is one of the most distinctive and forward-thinking elements of the Gita School curriculum. In an age of information overload, the ability to think carefully about values, ethics, meaning, and purpose is more important than ever — and it is a capacity that must be developed, not assumed.
In Theo Philosophy sessions, students engage with big questions — questions that do not have simple right answers. What is fairness? What makes something beautiful? Is it always wrong to break a rule? What do we owe to each other? These conversations, guided by trained teachers, develop children's ability to reason carefully, consider multiple perspectives, change their minds when presented with good arguments, and respect the right of others to hold different views.
The skills developed through philosophical inquiry — logical reasoning, careful listening, intellectual humility, and ethical awareness — are among the most valuable a young person can carry into adult life. At Gita School, we begin this journey early, because we believe it is never too soon to ask a good question.
“The unexamined life is not worth living. — Socrates. At Gita School, we teach children to examine — beautifully.”
